About the Instructor

Mark Gaston has been involved in music ever since the age of 11. He has been playing the piano for 32 years. He has also been singing in public performance for over 25 years.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music, his primary proficiency being voice and his secondary proficiency being keyboard.

In his experience, Mark has taught music theory classes on the high school level. He has also conducted sight reading courses and vocal training for adults, in addition to giving piano instruction to students ages four through adult.

He was employed as a Minister of Music in East Hartford, Connecticut for 12 years, in which he oversaw an adult choir and orchestra comprised of as many as 30 members. He also oversaw 10-15 vocal groups and soloists. For eight years he provided piano accompaniment for public worship services. He also provided private instruction to several students during his tenure there.

From 2008 to 2012, Mark taught as many as 35 voice and piano students through several institutions simultaneously in the Tampa Bay area in Florida, including Julestarz Academy for the Performing Arts in Lithia, Florida, Pianorama Music School in Ruskin, Florida, East Bay Christian School in Riverview, Florida, as well as SouthShore Baptist Church in Riverview, Florida.

Upon moving back to the East Texas area in 2012, Mark gave private lessons at the Mobberly Academy for the Performing Arts at Mobberly Baptist Church until that program was ended in 2014.  Since that time, he has continued offering private instruction locally at various locations here in Longview.

Mark has provided instruction to a variety of students.  His voice students have included members of adult and children’s church choirs, as well as members of high school vocal groups and ensembles.

Mark and his family live in the Longview area.  Mark loves music, and is striving to provide private instruction to students, both young and old, to this corner of East Texas.
